Humboldt Bay Fire Dive Rescue and Recovery Team Now Available for Response!

From Humboldt Bay Fire Facebook page~

The six members of the Humboldt Bay Fire Dive Rescue and Recovery (DRRT) were sworn in June 3, 2021 and have since received their formal training as public safety divers through the National Association of Underwater Instructors.

The team is now fully trained and officially available for response for incidents such as search and rescue, body recovery, evidence recovery & documentation, etc.  Requests for the DRRT will be funneled through the Eureka Police and Fire Dispatch.

"We are excited to finally see all this preparation come to fruition and to be able to offer this service to Humboldt County.  I'd like to thank the Brunner family again for their generous contributions and help in getting this team off the ground.  I'd also like to thank all the divers who have volunteered to put their energy into the creation of this team, and Cal Poly Humboldt for their ongoing support and partnership." - Dive Team Coordinator David Terry

While the team is not currently accepting applications for new divers, they will reach out to the community if and when that need arises.

Ongoing donations to the volunteer dive team can be made to Humboldt Bay Fire with the memo "Dive Team."  Donations will be used to fund equipment and training for volunteer dive members.
