Physical Education Teaching Option

Physical Education Teaching Education Program

The physical education teaching education program at Cal Poly Humboldt (Humboldt) offers a dynamic program where students build a strong understanding of legislation and how it guides assessment, student placement, behavior management, and pedagogical practices implemented to support each student at the K-12 grade levels.  Humboldt places a high interest in educating all students on culturally responsive pedagogy and equity for all practices within the classroom and our physical  education teaching education program follows these same beliefs.  Additionally, the program offers directed field-experience at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels where students will have the opportunity to conduct assessments, develop lesson plans, and provide instruction to a variety of students at each level. For those students interested in continuing their education, the Humboldt physical education teaching education program has been approved by the California Teaching Commission which allows a seamless transition for students interested in obtaining a single subject teaching credential (
